Olive Tree

The design concept for this residence begins with the landscape itself. Rather than imposing on the olive grove, the low, single-storey volume unfolds among the existing trees, following a subtle horizontal composition.

The residence is arranged in distinct wings around a central courtyard. At its heart, an existing olive tree is preserved, rising through an opening in the roof and becoming an integral part of the architectural experience. More than a space between rooms, the courtyard forms a sheltered centre of light and greenery—a place to pause in everyday life, around which circulation unfolds.

The roof has a strong geometric presence, with varying pitches and intersecting planes. Its dark metal cladding contrasts with the light-coloured render, while the elevated central section visually unifies the individual wings.

A sequence of large paving slabs set within the lawn leads to the entrance, while paving around the residence creates gentle transitions to the garden. Large openings orient the main living spaces towards the natural surroundings, extending the interior visually into the olive grove. Roof overhangs create shaded thresholds and sheltered areas for outdoor living.
